Alternative Rock band Cage the Elephant released their album “Tell Me I’m Pretty” Friday December 18th and I haven’t been able to stop listening to it. This album took caught me off guard at first. This entire album strums on the heartstrings, making it the perfect album to drive to at night on an empty road to help clear the cluttered mind and heart. Lead singer Matt Schultz successfully achieved the band’s goal of creating an album unlike any of their others. One where he delved into past memories ad childhood hardships to create songs with a background story that makes this album extraordinary. Vocalist Matt Shultz told Alternative Nation, "...the songs have so much diversity in them that I don’t feel like any song is representative of the entire album, kind of like each sound has its own personality." Go out, get this album, turn it on, and tune out the rest of the world.

When I was browsing Nylon Magazine's website one day back in 2010, I discovered they had a free download of their playlists. "Something Else" by the Diamond Rings was one of my favorite songs from the download, and I still listen to it today. It's just one of those songs that you put on when you're doing homework or cleaning your room or driving down the road in your red convertible with your two best girlfriends (cause that totally happens all the time. lol classic!)

Hamilton the Musical is the latest success from Tony award winning composer Lin-Manuel Miranda. Hamilton tells the story of Alexander Hamilton at the prime of his life. In this song "Burn," Hamilton's wife, Eliza, is singing about reading the letters between Hamilton and his mistress. Phillippa Soo's breath-taking vocals make you ache for her. Her pain and anguish are all perfectly delivered in this song, "Burn" from Hamilton.

Father John Misty is another artist I had the pleasure of hearing at the Hangout. His vocals are incredible, and just watching his quirkiness onstage is an altogether cool experience. He possesses the raw kind of talent that we seldom here on the radio anymore. Listen to his song "Only Son of a Ladiesman" below.

When I first heard Lake Street Dive at the 2015 Hangout Music Festival, I was hooked. The jazzy tunes, the butter-like harmonies, and Rachael Price's bluesy belt had me completely entranced. Watch their cover of "I Want You Back" below.
